Hi, I’m Runhua ZHANG, a first-year PhD student at HKUST. As a member of VisLab and the HCI Initiative, I am luckily to be supervised by Prof. Huamin QU and Prof. Xiaojuan MA. My research focuses on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). Recently, I have been exploring how HCI technologies, such as Human-AI collaboration, can contribute to the advancement of feminism. I am also interested in designing interactions that empower personal storytelling and reflection.
Before joining HKUST, I received an M.A. in Design (Best Thesis Award ), under the supervision of Prof. Qi WANG, at Center for Digital Innovation (CDI), College of Design and Innovation(D&I), Tongji University. I also earned a B.E. in Industrial Design (Best Thesis Award
) from School of Engineering, Sichuan University.
Before stepping into Feminist HCI (ongoing projects), I cultivated my interest in HCI by exploring a range of topics. Gradually, I found they formed two lines: (1) empowering storytelling (UIST ’25) or leveraging storytelling to facilitate positive reflection (CHI ’25, DIS ’25); and (2) tangible interfaces using e-textiles (UIST ’23, Ubicomp/ISWC ’23, IJHCI)
